  4. Welcome to the Dogz Adoption Kit Sampler!

  16. Getting Started
  17. - After you install Dogz, you'll see a "Dogz" icon in a Windows
  18.   Program Group named "Yourname's Dogz" (where "yourname" is your
  19.   first name).
  20. - Start Dogz by double clicking on the icon named "Dogz".
  21. - This will open the Dogz Adoption Kit
  22. - You can pet and play with any of the five Dogz breeds and decide
  23.   which one is best for you!
  24. - When you decide which one you want to adopt, click the "Adopt Me Now"
  25.   button.

  27. Important Note
  28. - Dogz love to run around on your computer screen.
  29. - Whenever you let a Dogz loose on the screen, you will not
  30.   be able to click on any other applications until you...

  32.   1) put the Dogz back into the Doghouse, or
  33.   2) Quit Dogz, or
  34.   3) Press ESCAPE (this will instantly pop the Dogz back into
  35.      their Doghouses)

  37. In the Adoption Kit you can pet and play with five different 
  38. breeds of Dogz.  Once you have adopted your own Dogz, you will 
  39. have many other things to do.  You will be able to feed, play 
  40. with and train your Dogz. You will be able to groom them to 
  41. change their color. Over time, your puppyDogz will grow up to a
  42. full size Dogz.  And your Dogz will be able to act as Guard 
  43. Dogz, protecting your computer from monitor burn-in and file snoops.

  45. IN THE ADOPTION KIT TRY THIS...
  46.  
  47. Picking up your Dogz
  48. - To pick up Dogz and move them to a new location, click the 
  49.   right mouse button while the cursor is anywhere over the Dogz.
  50. - Don't worry - this won't hurt it.  Releasing the mouse button 
  51.   will drop your Dogz safely to the desktop.
  52. - If you drop the Dogz back on top of its doghouse, it will pop
  53.   back into its doghouse.

  55. Dogz love to be petted!
  56. - You can pet your Dog at any time.  To do this, simply click and 
  57.   hold the left mouse button while moving/stroking the mouse, keeping
  58.   the cursor over the Dogz.  The cursor will change to a 
  59.   "petting hand".
  60. - Stroke the Dog with the cursor while holding down the left 
  61.   mouse button.
  62. - If you pet your Dogz just right and long enough, it might 
  63.   roll over to let you scratch its stomach, or even go to sleep.

  65. Sleeping
  66. - If you leave your Dogz alone for several minutes, they usually
  67.   nod off to sleep.  You may even catch them dreaming!
  68. - A nice way to wake up your Dogz is to pet them while they're
  69.   sleeping.

  72. KNOWN MISBEHAVIORS ("TROUBLESHOOTING")

  74. "My Dog disappears from the screen."
  75. - Like a real dog, your Dogz will sometimes run off on its own errands.
  76. - Try double-clicking the left mouse button to call your Dogz back.
  77.  
  78. "My Dog sometimes freezes on the screen."
  79. - If an important application needs to control your computer for a 
  80.   few seconds, your Dogz will hold still or disappear until that 
  81.   application lets go.  It's nothing to worry about!

  83. "Does installing Dogz affect my system files?"
  84. - The files that come with PF. Magic Dogz are as system-friendly 
  85.   as possible.  Dogz won't crawl into your AUTOEXEC.BAT or 
  86.   CONFIG.SYS files and mess them up.

  88. "I'm not hearing any sounds."
  89. - To hear your Dogz, you need a SoundBlaster(tm) compatible card 
  90.   installed.

  92. "The colors on my Dogz screen look odd."
  93. - If you change your monitor resolution or color depth, you should
  94.   quit and then relaunch Dogz to make sure colors are reset
  95.   properly.
